Introduction: Recently, Wuhan Kedi Zhongwei Electric Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Kedi Zhongwei") reached a deep cooperation agreement with TBEA Co., Ltd. Xinjiang Transformer Factory (hereinafter "TBEA Xinjiang Branch") to supply a large batch of power testing equipment for the Zhongmei Jingneng Qinhuangdao Thermal Power Phase II 2×660MW project. This equipment will comprehensively serve the transformer installation, commissioning, and handover testing phases, providing professional testing technology support for the smooth progress of this national key energy project.

I. Project Background: National Key Energy Project Accelerating

The Zhongmei Jingneng Qinhuangdao Thermal Power Phase II 2×660MW project is a key project in response to the national energy security strategy and in promoting energy transition and high-quality development. Located in Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, the project covers an area of 66.78 hectares, with a total investment of approximately RMB 6.067 billion. It will construct two 660MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired heating units, with simultaneous construction of flue gas desulfurization, denitrification facilities, and a heating station.

The project adopts domestically advanced ultra-supercritical power generation technology and intelligent control systems, equipped with high-efficiency dust removal, flue gas denitrification, desulfurization and other advanced environmental protection facilities, aiming to build an ultra-low emission, eco-friendly heating power station. Upon completion, the annual power generation will reach 6.6 billion kWh, supplying power to the North China Grid via dual 500kV transmission lines, providing 20 million square meters of heating area and 200 tons/hour of industrial steam supply capacity.

On June 23, 2025, the first concrete pouring of the project was successfully completed, marking the project's official entry into the substantive construction phase. As of now, the first boiler's main beam was successfully hoisted in February 2026, and all construction work is progressing in an orderly manner according to plan. Upon completion, the project will provide important power and voltage support for the eastern Hebei region, effectively enhancing the power grid's ability to withstand major accidents, while also providing residential heating for areas including Beidaihe District, Beidaihe New District, and Funing District.

For the main transformers, the project selected Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electric Co., Ltd. as the winning bidder for the main transformer and ancillary equipment through public bidding. For the high-voltage auxiliary transformers and starting standby transformers, Changzhou XD Transformer Co., Ltd. was selected. After these transformer equipment arrive on site, they must undergo rigorous handover tests and preventive tests before installation and commissioning, which imposes extremely high requirements on the accuracy, reliability, and comprehensiveness of testing equipment.

Transformer Winding Test Series: Including the DC Resistance Tester, used to accurately measure the DC resistance of transformer windings, detecting winding joint welding quality and tap changer contact conditions; the Automatic Turns Ratio Tester, used to measure transformer turns ratio and connection group to ensure transformer parameters meet design requirements; and the Transformer Winding Deformation Tester, which uses the frequency response method to detect winding deformation, providing diagnostic basis for safe transformer operation.

Transformer Characteristic Test Series: The Transformer No-Load/Load & Capacity Tester can simultaneously complete multiple tests including transformer short-circuit impedance and load loss, no-load current and no-load loss, and capacity measurement – one instrument covering multiple testing needs.

Insulation and Withstand Voltage Test Series: The Variable Frequency Series Resonant Withstand Voltage Test System is the core equipment for transformer AC withstand voltage testing, capable of completing high-voltage withstand tests with relatively small power supply capacity, featuring pure output waveform and excellent protection performance; the DC High Voltage Generator is used for arrester DC reference voltage and DC leakage current tests; the Insulation Resistance Tester is used to measure transformer winding insulation resistance and absorption ratio, comprehensively evaluating insulation status.

Supporting Test Instruments: The Dielectric Loss Tester is used for insulating oil dielectric loss measurement and overall transformer dielectric loss testing; the Loop Resistance Tester is used for measuring the circuit resistance of switchgear and GIS control equipment; and the High Voltage Switch Dynamic Characteristic Tester is used for circuit breaker mechanical characteristic testing.

This batch of equipment will comprehensively serve the arrival inspection, installation and commissioning, and handover testing of transformers for the Zhongmei Jingneng Qinhuangdao Thermal Power Phase II project, ensuring that every transformer passes rigorous testing before being put into operation.
