China Energy Zhejiang Thermal Power is a backbone enterprise in China’s energy construction sector, having undertaken numerous large-scale thermal power, nuclear power, power transmission & transformation, and new energy projects both domestically and internationally, known for its “standardized management and excellent quality”. The device consists of four parts: a variable frequency power supply control box, an excitation transformer, high-voltage reactors, and a capacitive voltage divider. The reactors adopt multiple independent units that can be flexibly combined in series and parallel to meet the AC withstand voltage test requirements of different equipment such as main transformers, GIS, high-voltage cables, generators, busbars, and switchgear, significantly reducing the procurement and transport costs of multiple devices for overseas projects.
1. Resonant voltage boosting – low power supply requirements on site
The required power supply capacity is only 1/Q of a conventional test transformer (Q ≥ 30). An ordinary three-phase 380V site power supply can drive an 800kVA level test, making it highly suitable for scenarios with limited power supply conditions on Indonesian construction sites.
2. Pure waveform – no damage to test object insulation
The resonant filtering effect makes the output voltage close to a standard sine wave, avoiding potential harmonic damage to expensive equipment such as main transformers and GIS.
3. Millisecond-level protection – safe and reliable testing
When flashover or breakdown occurs on the test object, the resonance condition is instantly destroyed, the voltage collapses, and the arc energy is extremely small. At the same time, the DSP digital circuit cuts off the output within milliseconds, ensuring the safety of equipment and personnel.
During the commissioning phase of the Indonesia PT.PTLG Power Plant, Wuhan Kedi Zhongwei’s 800kVA/400kV VF series resonant successfully completed the following key tests:
Main transformer AC withstand voltage test: 200kV test voltage applied to the 220kV main transformer for 60 minutes, with stable waveform and qualified data.
220kV GIS AC withstand voltage test: Completed full-enclosed GIS test at 395kV test voltage; the device protection was sensitive with no abnormal discharge.
High-voltage power cable AC withstand voltage test: Using the resonant method, completed tests on multiple long-distance cables with a small power supply capacity, greatly improving on-site efficiency.
As of February 2025, all units of the PT.PTLG Power Plant successfully passed the 168-hour full-load test and NDC (Net Dependable Capacity) test, officially entering commercial operation. Wuhan Kedi Zhongwei’s series resonant device operated with “zero failure and zero misoperation” during the equipment handover test phase, earning high praise from the project department of China Energy Zhejiang Thermal Power.
